What to Consider Before a Kitchen Remodel-Kitchen Remodeling IDEAS

By Kitchen Remodeling IDEAS
Kitchen remodeling can be difficult and costly in both money and time. But I've recently done some remodeling in my house and want to share with you some of the secrets that helped to keep my project on track.

Before you start something, get a notebook and document all aspects of the project. Describe your kitchen remodel in the form of items that I "must have" vs. the elements which are "nice to have," it takes time to list the elements of the project that you might feel comfortable doing.
My husband and I were able to do a lot of demolition work and painting and some minor plumbing. This helped save me considerable money. I was able to provide better lighting fixtures and cabinetry. Also get your estimated budget numbers written in your notebook. Remember that budget surplus occurs, and this is when you'll see on your "nice to have" list and begin the process of removing the items that can be considered at a later date, or omitted all together. This is the first part of keeping the project on budget.

First thing to consider is the extent of the kitchen remodel. If you are considering a remodel on an older home, remember that electricity and plumbing codes most likely to have changed and there may be a considerable sum of money to be budgeted because of unknown factors that are all included in U.S. dollars equation. Much of this will be discovered during the demolition phase of the kitchen. If your kitchen remodel is a relatively newer home, you need to consider possible changes in structure, plumbing and electricity, as this will also add to your costs.

In the next phase we will focus on preliminary research. Talk to friends, family and use the Internet to get answers on the contractors, selection of lighting fixtures, cabinetry, counter tops, flooring selection, paint and wallpaper. Shop around at national retailers and then go to the Internet. Many retailers offer a better deal for the same product. Document how long it will take prior to arrival.
